The Studio

Kate Harvey Landscape & Garden Design creates uplifting and memorable spaces for a range of clients from our base in Surrey.

Taking inspiration from architecture, art and the natural world, we enjoy creating beautiful outdoor spaces which respond to their location and connect people and their homes with the landscape.

Our work is characterised by strong, well considered geometry providing structure and permanence complimented by perceptive and lush planting which transforms the space through time and season. Where our designs truly stand out is in the meticulous detailing, plant selection and placement.

Every project is a collaboration, with our client, landscaper and any specialist trades that are involved. We encourage an open dialogue and strongly believe that the best results come from honest and frequent communication with our clients.

Designing and creating a new outdoor space is just the beginning, what is most exciting and rewarding is knowing they will evolve uniquely over time. Influenced by the setting and those using and caring for the space. All of which are factors we consider in our approach.

The studio works on a range of projects, often working closely with architects and interior designers to create a unified design. We welcome collaborations so please get in touch if you would like to discuss a project.

We work across London, the South East, and further afield by arrangement.

About Kate

A love of the outdoors is a theme that has run through Kate’s life. Early memories of helping her grandparents in their garden, a passion for adventurous travel and the excitement and freedom she felt developing her first owned garden have stayed with her.

Kate’s first career was in banking where she spent 10 years. However a growing passion for forward-thinking design and a desire to express greater creativity, aligned with her love for outdoor space prompted Kate to take a different direction. She retrained at the London College of Garden Design based at Kew Gardens. Graduating with distinction and praised for her clarity, design ambition and attention to detail she launched her design practice.

Central to Kate’s approach is that access to outdoor spaces positively influences our mental and physical wellbeing and nurtures our connection to the natural world. Designing gardens or landscapes to inspire and excite her clients is an exciting opportunity and privilege. Above all she hopes to create memorable and enduring spaces which have a lasting impact on her clients.

Kate is a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) and her project ‘Lakeside Retreat’ is shortlisted for the 2017 SGD Awards.

And finally...

A big thank you to all those who have helped and guided me on this journey. My friends and family for their support and patience. I am hugely grateful and could not have achieved this without you.
